Browsing the AtomicHub market and checking our various collections, there’s always going to be that moment you find yourself looking at a page of pretty much identical NFT’s. It’s a logical consequence of game popularity rising and falling. At some point the players identify which NFT is least desirable and that one pops up at the market more than others. But what if you could alter the look of your NFT to your own liking and make it much more unique that way?

When the Mecha World pack sale starts it will include “Base Mechas”. These will come in 6 different shapes and 6 different colors. Not much new here yet on this front.

A Rainbow of Flax Mecha’s

The Mecha World pack sale will also include Parts, and this is where it becomes interesting.

Fitting these Parts onto your Mecha will make them stronger and more successful on quests. Some parts however, will also change the looks of your Mecha NFT.

How does that work? When the player decides to fit a part onto a Mecha, the NFT’s of the Mecha Body and the Part are burned. A new NFT is created of “Mecha + part”.

External Parts become visible on your Mecha NFT

Because of this process, parts that are fitted can not be detached anymore. The only way to still remove it from the Mecha is to replace it with another Part.

Internal parts, like the Battery Pack or RAM, are not visible on your Mecha NFT but it will be visible in the mutable attributes. Studying these attributes before you make a Mecha purchase on the market will be crucial to make the right purchase decision.

Parts don’t have eternal life. They wear down by using them in Quests and Battles. They can be repaired to increase their lifespan, but once their wear-counter reaches 0 they’re broken. Fixing a broken part is much more expensive than regular repairs, so it’s better to avoid! We’ve decided to take this approach to encourage active engagement with the game. If you just put your Mecha on autoquest and don’t check back in time to repair your parts, you risk paying a hefty price for your neglectance.

So what are the pro’s and cons of this approach?

  • It will make the Market a much more interesting place. There will be Mecha’s in all kind of shapes and forms for sale. Market bots will most likely have a harder time determining the value per NFT.
  • Trading will become more strategic. Will you fit the parts and benefit from using them, before selling your upgraded Mecha? Or will you sell the separate unfitted Parts and Mecha NFT’s?
  • Anyone new entering the market may find it difficult to understand this wide offering of Mecha’s & Parts, making it harder for them to make a good purchase. But then again, anyone can always start out with a Base Mecha and build it up from there.
  • Because of the burning mechanism the scarcity of Parts and Mecha’s will go up. This will allow the developer to introduce new Parts, which will also increase the variety in the market.

There will undoubtedly be a learning curve in the balancing of this mechanism, as is the case with all things new. We’re excited to release this and see it in action!
